ihave a alleged debt from 1993, iwas 65 on 29-10-2017',in 2012 i first heard of this debtand i refused to pay as the dwp did not furnish any decent evidence that i owe this money,as iwas not on any benefits the dwp said their would take it out of my pension when i retire. iclaimed my pension over the phone on the 2nd of november ,2days later i recieved a letter from the debt management office gloucestershire ,threatening to take money out of my pension if idid not pay this alleged debt ,from the 28th of november onwards through a dca.straight away i replied with a sar letter which i copied from a forum and sent £10 to cover any costs, and sent the sar by registered mail ,to the gloucester office , today i recieved a reply thanking me for the money and will be used to pay off this debt no recognition or mention of the sar letter, the money was for the statutory fee to cover any costs of the subject access request, could you give me any advice on how to proceed with this matter and what is the best coarse of action to take iwould greatly a ppreciate any help you can give .

Good morning,
What benefit do they say was over paid?
How much are they claiming?
Personally I would raise a formal complaint with the " Manager" at the Debt Management Office and send by signed for post.
Itemise each part of the complaint e.g. You do not acknowledge any such debt,, you were not claiming any benefits at the time this alleged debt is supposed to have arisen.
No proof has been provided that you are liable for any such debt.
I would also mention the application of the Statutory to an unproven debt, and that there has been no acknowledgment that you have made a SAR.
