  • what is the process please?

I am currently in the process of parting company from my DMC, in order to manage my affairs myself - I received an encouraging response to a CCA from one DCA but am confused as to what the process will be once they are dealing with me and not my DMC.

Will they all (5 DCA) write to me to inform me that I need to contact them to arrange payment etc, assuming they can enforce the debt after the CCA's I have sent - or is it more sinister than that and they will go straight to a county court scenario? Depending on what responses I get from the CCA's i will be making settlement offers where possible. (I don't have enough to offer them all)

My credit file is clear now, but I'm worried moving away from the DMC may encourage the DCA's to apply pressure and go for CCJ's.

    Any advice gratefully received.

I'll give @Amethyst and @Debt Camel a shout for you.

In the meantime what are the types of the 5 debts and who were they originally with and who are they with now?

Hi - thanks for the response.

They are all pre-2007 loans and credit cards with PRA, Lowell, and idem.

When I parted ways with my DMP provider some wrote to me and some to them. Those that wrote to them received replies saying the DMP provider were no longer acting.

I did have considerably more creditors but be warned you may be in for a busy time with phone calls and letters.

I just relied with the no phone call no visit template and another saying there was an outstanding cca request. The outstanding cca request may not have been the smartest move at the time but I was not in a good place. Things eased off and now I rarely get letters (5 years on),

If you are parting company with your DMC, then I suggest you contact the creditors and set up payments arrangements.

You can then deal with F&Fs as and when you have the money and the information about the CCAs.

I'm quite happy to deal the DCA's directly, however my other worry is that once they get wind that I'm no longer being represented by a DMC, are they able to start charging interest again?

Re: what is the process please?

I have now penned my letter to my DMP provider informing them of my decision to manage my own affairs, I have also included an SAR as I would like to know what they have been up to for the last 8 years. I plan to call each of the DCA's tomorrow morning informing them of my decision to leave my DMC - however this is where I could do with some final bits of advice please..... I have already served them all CCA's - one of which is now on hold pending an enquiry, the rest are yet to respond - am I to offer my payment arrangement now or is there another conversation to be had with them regarding the outstanding CCA request? I really don't want to antagonise them.

Does anyone have any further advice on them adding interest please?
