  • Data protection regarding shoplifting

Hi I was caught shoplifting 9 months ago, I had been suffering from bad depression and had had a mini stroke the day before which scared me and left me in a right state. No excuses though I went to a supermarket and took a sachet of cat food and a hot chocolate and another small random item that I can't recall all less than £5 in total. I got stopped and taken to a room where I explained my state of mind and broke down really. Police didn't turn up were too busy and said they would visit me at home. Anyway police came 4 days later and I explained that it was a real wake up call and I now seeing a doctor. didn't eat or sleep for a week felt worse than ever but thought it's over now move on. Was banned from the shop forever. anyway 9 months later sitting with my daughter watching tv and she gets a message from a friend your mums a thief and is sent a picture of me that's in store she works in. My daughter says no way it's a lie but friend says I've spoken to the security guard and he knows all about your mum and she nicked something expensive. To say I am mortified is an understatement I feel like I have to move far away now and am back to square one in my recovery. Please help me is this allowed?
