  • Please read regarding threads.

With all due respect to every poster here, and not pointing the finger at anyone, once again a thread is descending in to pointless name calling and insults.
This isn't helping the OPs one little bit, and while I respect the fact that there are 2 sides to every argument, I also respect the people posing too much to allow this.

PLEASE can we stick to the point and think of ways to constructively assist the OPs in their questions? If someone has an opinion yes, by all means, in a CONSTRUCTIVE way express it, but this is turning in to "my dad is bigger than your dad" and its getting very petty!

Surely the intelligence levels in this forums can understand that by insulting people, and turning threads in to free for alls, you are doing the very opposite of what is is you are trying to achieve.
Our goal here, if I may remind you, is to HELP PEOPLE! It is getting to the point that people will read the replies and think they are in Kindergarten. We need to all wake up and realise that by arguing on threads, name calling and by acting like 3 year olds we are driving new members away! We had an outcry at the spammers, now lets get rid of the nastiness.

When I joined, I was struck by the decency, the kindness, the willingness to help.. for some reason that atmosphere is changing slightly. We are seeing more agressive posts, more personal jibes, and at the risk of sounding like a scared child, I don't like it!

Everyone here has a specialist subject (yes I know I sound like Magnus Magnusson), but at the same time every single person has a right to respect, kindness and basic courtesy.

Remember: It's nice to be important, but important to be nice!!

Rant over, and apologies if I seem overbearing.

        Re: Please read regarding threads.

Thanks PR for posting this up it is not the first time that these steps have had to be taken by posting up like you have today. I think people get carried away on forums such as this and they do as they normally do in everyday life by being childish and upsetting people because they think it is acceptable to do so.

Well in my view it is not acceptable and people that cross that line have to be told that they cannot do this otherwise the trend by them casuing as much trouble in the way that they post continues and it puts off new people who came here because of it's friendly and helpful site.

        Well done xxxx

I agree i thought a forum was for people to offer advicebased on the experiences and views of the poster in answer to the thread not to enter into an online slanging match i agree with puff about the my dads bigger than your mentality,
I have for a couple of months now gained some valuable kowledge in how to deal with the problems we can all get into regarding debt and our dealings in life in a perfect world we would all be able to access the answers instantly but that dont happen there is nothing more frustrating than following a thread through many days awaiting the outcome only to see it ruined by personal attacks from one member on another how does this all appear to the OP maybe they will think that this forum is not what it seems and the answers provided are in a word CRAP by all means offer conflicting advice no one person i suspect knpws it all (Except me my wife keeps telling me that) Please everbody keep up the good work im sur it helps many i know i have learned an awful lot

While I respect your opinion you should not be the one telling people how to behave on here, things like this have always gone on in the forums and unlike some forums where you just get banned on here it is sorted out fairly and properly by the people that should sort it.

See peeps THATS how you show a difference of opinion.

I don't mean to tell people how to behave hun, more I'm asking people to consider others feelings, it saddens me to read nastiness and people walking over others feelings. If I have offended anyone with this post, I truly apologise, but I cannot sit back and see people I respect highly (and again I mean that strongly) being spoken to in a way I would not tolerate from my kids.

So cmon LB, lets show our posters more of the positivity that makes this website great!

i was only pointing out how the forum in some cases turns a little bit nasty im sure many others would agree maybe those who sort it would delete post that stray from the subject matter or are we all to act like the bailiffs we all despise and hate im sure some of them are registered on here?

I understand all what has been said and I am sure admin are fully aware of the offending posts.
Everyone has the choice to ignore such posts or report them using the report post icon.
I know things can get a little nasty, that is the nature of the beast on forums and a lot of the time you read things as you would like to read them and not as they were meant to be read by the poster.
I still think that any form of ticking off should be done by admin and not us members, as I firmly believe that will only make things worse.

                      Re: Please read regarding threads.

Having had my fair share of run in's with one member (no need to name names here) i agree with what Puffrose has said - Some just don't know to accept defeat or accept other may have a differing opinion on the right course of action or a different interpretation of law or even a legal theory, and they choose to openly insult and put your advice down, purely on their own believe that they are never wrong (the unnamed person even state, they are always right). Off course that atitude and insults that follow results in the other like myself, standing my ground - Though i try to remain constructive throughout and do offer to amicably end the argument as an undecided draw to prevent the thread being ruined, but that just isn't enough for some posters.
