  • Yes! It's Wimblebore!

So, another 2 weeks of wall to wall saturation of a sport that outside of Wimblebore fortnight, no one gives a damn about. As usual the BBC will readily cancel the 6 oclock news in preference for an over-running 2nd round mixed doubles match featuring players that are not even ranked in the Mexican amateur top 1000.

Hoardes of middle class housewives queing round the clock in the hope of getting a glimpse of some Croatian and a Latvian that no-ones's ever heard of and who's names they can't pronnounce, warming up on court 94.

Crowds of pseudo tennis 'fans' flocking to Henman Hill, Murray Mound or Loser's Lump screaming ''come on Timmy poos, you can do it!'' in the ignorance he hung up his Slazengers ages ago and who wouldn't know a tennis racket from a sieve.

Errrr excuse me but I am also a Tennis Fan (as a lot of you know I was actually partaking in Tennis lessons a while ago, until my unfortunate injury) and I love, love, love Wimbledon. Thanks for the 'Middle Class' bit Nick as well, but I prefer to consider myself more Upper Middle actually msl:.

But then again I also enjoy Cricket, Rugby, Football and of course the Formula 1.

A middle management executive has to take on some sport, by his doctor's orders, so he decides to play tennis. After a couple of weeks his secretary asks him how he's doing. "It's going fine, " the manager says. "When I'm on the court and I see the ball speeding towards me, my brain immediately says, 'To the corner! Back hand! To the net! Smash! Go back!'" "Really? What happens then?" the secretary asks. "Then my body says, 'Who? Me? You must be kidding!'"

... After a 2 year study, the National Science Foundation announced the following results on America's recreational preferences: 1. The sport of choice for unemployed or incarcerated people is: basketball.
                2. The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is: bowling.
                3. The sport of choice for blue-collar workers is: football.
                4. The sport of choice for supervisors is: baseball.
                5. The sport of choice for middle management is: tennis.
                6. The sport of choice for corporate officers is: golf.
Conclusion: The higher you rise in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become.

While out one morning in the park, a jogger found a brand new tennis
ball, and seeing no one around it might belong to, he slipped it into
                the pocket of his shorts.
Later, on his way home, he stopped at the pedestrian crossing,
waiting for the lights to change.
A blonde girl standing next to him eyed the large bulge in his shorts.
"What's that?" she asked, her eyes gleaming with lust.
"Tennis ball," came the breathless reply.
"Oh," said the blonde sympathetically, "that must be painful.... I
                had tennis elbow once."

                and finally

well tennis is okay to watch, but only if there's no football on tv. And of course the added bonus is all those fit looking foreign blokes with lovely butts in shorts. Bit like Euro 2008 really.
                          Is no longer here
