Let the battery flatten, then place in drawer.

My family have now ceased their attempts to persuade me to use a mobile (shouldn't that be portable?)phone.

I have an old flip open phone. (cast off of my Husbands)for emergencies. No one can understand why I don’t feel the need to be in constant communication with people. I get really peed off when talking to someone who is constantly checking their phone. Bloody rude. As for needing to consult the internet every 30 seconds -that is just off it’s head.

                  In full agreement there ,Paws.
Back in the 70s my firm tried to foist an early mobile on me but I refused to carry it and left it in on my desk.
The bloody thing weighed over 2lbs, and the idea of me being on call 24/7 did not appeal to OH.

It depends whayt you want the phone for . One friend rich in years, has a payg which is kept in the car and had £10 every six months to keep it active and is solely used in case of emergency and breakdown, another friend also rich in years is a self employs tradesperson and keeps his on as it's the main thing that bring i
n business but i agree checking the phone at table is rude . Some families i know have a no devices at the dinner table rule . no phones no consoles no laptops , just for an hour there are very few things in life which wont wait until supper is over .

                          Re: In a quandary?

Almost everyone thinks they are socially 'connected' via social media, etc (fb, snapchat, instagram, linkedin, skype etc......plus the 'phone itself)

But where would they be, what would they do, if the 'powers that be' decided, for some 'good' reason, to pull the plug on t'interweb?
