            Re: Internet

Our speed has been rubbish for a while up here in North Wales. I just haven’t got the mental strength to Tango with any knuckle draggers right now. The head of Open Reach used to be a really nice woman -the chap from BT was a git but I think he has been replaced. Want me to dig out some direct email addresses? BTW – you two should qualify as essential workers -and I am being absolutely serious!

                  Re: Internet

                  No they really don't!

"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

                      Probably their special either/or configuration.

Been helping out a friend who has had slow speeds for some time (BT) but to be fair they are the greatest distance from the exchange that they could possibly be here. He went to Infinity and even that was lucky to get 8Mb/s on a good day. I hadn't realised he was paying for infinity ! BT were telling him that he was connecting at 24Mb/s Strange how the synch speed (inside the hub) was only showing 18Mb/s. He threatened to go to Virgin who had just laid cables in the area and hey presto a sudden flurry of work by BT. He now has a new master socket fitted and the hub is now synching at 30 something Mb/s. Looks like a bit of competition worked wonders. He's a real happy bunny now.

At least he got the broadband engineer that knows his business. There is one locally. Some of the others are not too bright.

Our village " is too rural " for Virgin to bother with unfortunately. I'm with SKY which I must say is very good! Sky Talk technician I've spoken to from day 1 of this nonsense has been excellent continuity of contact and the fact that calls are free even from mobiles makes it easier to get things done.
4 vans out today 1 in our road 3 in adjoining road.
Fingers crossed they will fix it today.

It is annoying when you live in a rural area. Slow speeds and little choice. Up here we often resort to smoke signals.
PS-excuse bad spelling; hole in blanket.

Phone is restored a OR manager phone to say that compo will be paid by them and Sky will credit £x to the account as well.
Success, but one still wonders for how long.
