      Re: Bagel, anyone???

Some time ago I tried to paste LBs link, it kept changing to Bagels, and friends I put it there for kept saying they couldn't get the site and got Disney etc., and then someone posted that the language filter changes it, and certain people started getting nasty trying to deny it, I then found out it's true, they won't allow any links from here, which is not fair on those who would appreciate the information.

        Hole in one agnes :okay:

The irony is that for all OTR's moral high ground about opposing commercialism, they link people to a commercial site when they are trying to get here. This is strange indeed, when the original reason for ostracising this site was a false claim that it was a commercial site.

The commercial claim was stated many times but never justified. In a recent post, Bookie (posting with a different name) stated that "I can assure you that there is a very good reason why we will have no links with that site", but never explained. dave's most recent criticism of Beagles was that it was "...a site with about four active users, lets not forget..."

I think that as Beagles goes from strength to strength, you will hear increasingly desperate efforts OTR to discredit us. The legions of new members here - I suspect - will form their own judgement. :beagle:

Beagles was formed out of disenchantment with the way OTR was being mismanaged, and so many people left in that early exodus in May 2007. I have never regretted that move for a moment in all the time since. Current events simply reinforce it.

            I agree with Kaf,

originally I was an avid supporter of Cag, they could do no wrong. This started to change after a year when I became less compliant with their way of thinking and and I questioned some dubious posts by the site team. When I first became "cagbotted" it really hurt, and for a while didn't post.

However I returned and continued in the new post section pointing new members in the right direction. I felt it was my duty.

All the time though I still felt a chill of unease, as on several occassions when I posted in other sections, Ie the bear garden, disquiet of various posts, i was again Cagbotted.

I was in fact quite glad when it all came to ahead in the debacle of the infamous chat room night, when I finally realised that Cag was a site that was a self serving dictatorship that had lost it's way.

I was at a loss after that until I was invited to join LB. I have much to thank this site for that, it has truly opened my eyes to how caring and giving are the senior members here

PS I never got a reasoned or coherent reply from OTR for why was my profile was tampered with. All they could say is we didn't do it. Well I didn't so who did?

              My own opinion is:

We have a lot to be grateful to OTR for. They made it possible for us all to be here

                Re: Bagel, anyone???

I agree with all thats been said regarding OTR. After reclaiming my bank charges I decided to stick around and help. I felt like I needed to give something back. I ended up in the debt forums eventually and for a while was quite happy to offer support and advice, while at the same time getting the same. Eventually I noticed that all the knowledgeable respected names were disappearing but I didn't know why. I haven't been cagbotted or involved in any of the disputes, but I did stumble across a few threads and posts (and ex-caggers) that made me realise that I didn't really want to post there anymore.
I still go over to read and to check up on the people I was helping, I didn't want to leave them in the lurch as no one else had taken any interest in them
So for a while I wandered, not knowing where to turn (oh god that sounds so sad lol) I took some time out from forums but now I want to get back into the swing of it. I have a few issues of my own to deal with but still have the urge to help. What better place than here, it's friendly, informative and isn't too big for it's own boots
You can't scare me, I have children.

Links your mouse lol left click once on what you want to link it goes blue OK
Right click while its blue and select copy OK left click on copy it is then saved.

Go to where you want to put it, right click select paste, left click and your link will appear.

Try that, see if it helps.

Bloody hell I've only gone and done it.:carrot: Finally!!!!!!

Thanks Enaid. I should point out that it was me being crap at links which led to this thread being started in the first place, cos of having to type instead of link OTR.

I still mooch about over there every now and then, never had any trouble with the mods etc but I find it a bit stuffy, although I've had some good advice. There are some great people with a sense of humour etc, who would be great over here, but don't want to pm them to get them to cross over in case i get jumped on from a great height.

So you have lol, like i said to scottishlass you feel like you have climbed Mount Everest lol.
I still pop over too, I don't post though.
I too have never been banned but they do know I go over, I still have the same name.
Scottislass pm'd someone yesterday otr and it got through as she had a reply and a thanks.
I myself find it very sad they are being silly over the linking to here.
I would never had found there if the ML site took the same stance.

Well I don't know about mountain climbing, walking down our track is enough for me lol.
Seriuosly though I can't believe it never clicked before now, I cut and paste all the time and am usually quite good with stuff like that, I think it just never clicked that that was how you do it. There's also a helpful thingy on the right click dropdown saying "copy link location". That should have been a clue!!!!. It works as well.
