yep--as you describe--on v 24 on xp professional
but v24 on windows 7--no probs

I've got the prob on Win 7! Eeeek!

It's not a problem as such, it's annoying. I go to Google and start typing and it takes about 5 seconds for the word to appear, often missing the 1st letter.

Are there any patches?

I think I've found the culprit on my machine - AdBlock Plus.

I had to go to Tools - Add Ons - Click 'Options' on Ad Block Plus and remove the tick from 'Show Tabs on Flash and Java.'

I also disabled an add on called 'betterFox' - there is one called 'FasterFox' both of which are also known to cause problems.

A restart of Firefox and touch wood, all seems well so far.
