Looks like an increasing number of people are using the Police for purely personal disputes where no offence has been committed. :mod: That, in itself, should constitute an offence, because they are wasting police time by making them read and investigate complaints that have nothing to do with the Police.

What follows is an actual call that was received at the police station I was based at in Victoria, Central London, whilst serving with the Metropolitan Police, on a Sunday afternoon. Names have been changed for obvious reasons. We had a paedophile living on the division who had a history of making malicious and nuisance calls.

Paedo: Hello. Is that Victoria Police Station?
      PC X: Yes.
Paedo: This is Mister ****** of ******* House. I have ten young boys in my flat and I'm going to bugger the lot of them.
PC X: Mister ******. Do you have a dog licence?
      Paedo: Pardon?
PC X: Do you have a dog licence?
Paedo: What would I need with a dog licence?
PC X: Well, if you're going to bugger ten young boys, Mr ******, you will need a dog licence.
Paedo: Are you taking the piss?
PC X: No. Would you like me to tell you where your nearest post office is so you can obtain a dog licence?
      Paedo: You're taking the piss!
PC X: Your nearest post office is at.....

At that point, the paedophile rang off. It just goes to show what some people will do. A few minutes after that call, we received a 999 call to a fight in a pub in Pimlico.

Did he get his dog licence?

        It was only 7/6d.

No. But he got nicked the following Sunday for buggering a 14 year-old boy. Seeing him being sent down by a judge at Knightsbridge Crown Court was very satisfying.
