  • Proud to be British ?

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, French scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the French: in the weeks that followed, American archaeologists dug to a depth of 20 feet before finding traces of copper wire. Shortly afterwards, they published an article in the New York Times saying : "American archaeologists, having found traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the French."

A few weeks later, ‘The British Archaeological Society of Northern England’ reported the following: "After digging down to a depth of 33 feet in the Skipton area of North Yorkshire in 2011, Charlie Hardcastle, a self-taught local amateur archaeologist, reported that he had found absolutely bugger all. Charlie has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Britain had already gone wireless."

Just makes you bloody proud to be British.

I think not when we have a spineless government who seem to think being a member of a crumbling EU is the best thing that ever happened to us.
Who's policies on immigration seems to be don't stop till we pop.
Who's NHS and Social Services fails the old and vulnerable every day in every way.
Who boast of the millions they send abroad to help the poor in the rest of the world while our own get poorer by the day.
Who allows financial and other institutions who we have been forced to rely on rip us off on a regular basis.
Oh and the weather is crap too.

Am I the only one who is sick of everyone blaming all that is wrong with the world on this government. They are all as bad as each other. Give them any set of figures and they can spin them to their own needs, they can show that debt is going up and that it is going down, that this is x but also y. How is the average person supposed to know who is telling the truth. My motto is just don't believe any of them. The only things I do believe is what I read in the DM....if it says so, I know the opposite to be true!

I have travelled extensively and actually grew up abroad so I know what I am saying by telling you all that our NHS is unique in the world and wonderful. It does have its floors, granted, however NOWHERE else in the world do you get treated without question of being able to pay first. We take our NHS for granted.

I think we need a referendum so that once and for all that the arguments are set out so that we know where we are going. EU Regulations will be a part of our life whether we are IN or OUT of the EU if we want to trade with the EU. However, will we get rid of those EU people already here? That is the question as some people have been here a long while and so I suspect that we would only be able to stop newer people coming in IF we left the EU at a future date to come.

EU membership is about freedom of movement ie that you go from one part of the EU to another without having to go through hefty immigration queue's. It's about trade as well. I know Teresa May has recently spoken about immigration and some of her speech is about Abu Qatada case and ******. I have to say that having read the judgement on Qatada I can see why the government cannot deport him at the moment. Here is the judgement: http://www.siac.tribunals.gov.uk/Documents/Othman_substantive_judgment.pdf

The money is supposedly for political purposes or influence with regards to exports and imports

I completely agree on the last bit....where is the bloody sun?
