In this current economy, a job is a precious thing, and harder than hen's teeth to find, I have been looking now for over a year for employment, and let's be 100% honest, the DirectGov site is crud, Customer Services Jobs within 10 miles of Sheffield.... ABERGAVENNY anyone? As a mechanic??
So, I have, with the Admins kind permission, complied a list of sites that will help you find a job. I use them myself and have had a few interviews etc.
They are totally free of charge and you can also upload your CV for employers to look at in the mean time.
My first choice is CV Library (ww.cv-library.co.uk/) free of charge, upload your CV and they will email you any matching jobs in your local area (you do occasionally get the odd Edinburgh is 15 miles from Plymouth but it is rare.)
Another good site is Jobsite (www.jobsite.co.uk/)
Again you register your CV and employers can browse them, and they will send you updates on new jobs in your area.... plus they are advertised by the very nice looking Max Beesley Jnr, can't be a bad thing.
Monster also can help you (www.monster.com)
My latest hope is Networx (www.networxrecruitment.com/) who seem very hot, and email you job updates and give you a profile that employers can browse.
PLEASE NOTE: NONE OF THESE SITES WILL ASK YOU FOR ANY BANK DETAILS, NI NUMBERS OR EMAIL YOU FOR ANY OF THESE DETAILS, IF AN EMPLOYER LIKES THE LOOK OF YOUR CV THEY WILL CONTACT YOU DIRECT FOR INTERVIEW.
DO NOT DISCLOSE THESE DETAILS UNLESS FILLING IN A GENUINE APPLICATION FORM.
