    Re: new monopoly board

My dad wouldn't let me play monopoly, but one year part of my Christmas present included the board game "Class War". Seriously! It really was a board game. And probably more educational than Monopoly!

      Hi Eloise

We have an old and battered American version of monopoly (from grandparents who were Scottish not American so it makes no sense)- actually must look it out - but it's got toy dollars instead of £s and all the properties are different - ie Boardwalk is the highest price instead of Park Lane and so forth.

Never come across "Class War" as an actual board game (although, of course...). Was your Pa very political/radical? what did it involve?

I think there was an American version of the game too - must look it up. My dad, radical? Nah. Just your typical Yorkshire NUM official! And it involved what it said on the box. First organise your proletariat...

But America WAS supposed to be a classless meritocracy.

I believe Mrs Thatcher declared the UK to be one too. Just goes to show that politicians lie.
