I might be right there.

I remember seeing an interview with his producer who said that his format became uneconomical. They'd fly him off to the Oscars or some film preview only to get a few seconds of footage before he got slung out.

I think what happened was that the format was that well known that the surprise of his questions became less and less which lead to him ending the Dennis Pennis role....Actor btw is Paul Kaye
