  • How do you feel about Conscription ?

Following on to the 'Lest we Forget' thread, it's got me thinking about Conscription, my personal feelings are that its about time we had it in some form or another, it would get the youngsters off the streets, teach them a trade and of course give them self respect. I'm not saying that they should be sent to fight but that they would get all the training needed to be fine and upright citizens, and I am including the girlies here too, obviously if they can get into University or a good job then great but if not and are just signing on then into the camps they go, with a nice fatherly RSM to look after them.

Over to you, I am now going to run and hide :tinysmile_kiss_t4:

If someone could think of a viable non-military based equivalent for those with objections in that area, then in principle I would say it could be a very good thing.

I remember that. Was horrible, but not character building in the least.

I mean something with a bit more teeth.

also, this goverment are reducing our armed forces staffing levels to a critical level to an extent that we would not even be able to defend our interests when needed.

so why would they want to put more people in uniform,

thatcher did the same sort of cull for which the armed forces never recovered from, yet they want more cuts

or have they done a deal with the yanks as the worlds policeman

truly shocking that this country is being reduced to nothing

In 1938 our defences were cut dramatically, in 1939 a nutter called Adolf decided to start a war, wonder who the nutter will be this time.

Totally,100% agree with it conscription (hides behind Sapphy),,and before anyone bawls me out,I have a 24yr old son,,and if he had been a lazy layabout expecting dole money to keep him in beer vouchers I would have personally kicked his arse into it.

Personally (no disrespect to anyone) I think its a great idea, as long as the hole culture of "My son/daughter was in the army and he got killed, compensate me" is removed.
Your child was in the ARMED FORCES, they went to a thing called WAR.

While it would kill me if one of my kids went to war, and I would worry until my arse fell off, I would stand behind them every step of the way, and say that is my child in the uniform!

If anyone's going to start WW3, it'll be rogue CIA agents.
