Re: Jimmy Saville: Does my memory deceive me?

I think a lot of this about stars "groping" girls has been exaggerated, a lot of girls would have had the same thing done to them, but not classed as groping, and i bet not many objected because they were celebrities, and wouldnt have thought twice about it,in fact probably boasted to their friends, [ not that it makes it right], there were always groupies
As i have said before, most of the stars now were young men then, and most young men would try it on, There were some very precocious [sp] girls around even then, and if Freddie Starr was in that dressing room it sounds as if he getting tarred with the same brush, just because he was thereHe looked not well at all on TV

My Ex (years ago) was the compere (at the time the biggest) nightspot in Essex, we had many, many top class acts there at the time. Freddie was one of them and I can remember spending many evenings/early mornings after the shows in the bar getting completely rat arsed with him and a lot of the others, I can categorically state that I never ever saw anything that would make me suspicious of the man.

Were there any stars of that time that did, in hindsight make you suspicious and I would merely prefer a yes or no answer since a yes would lead me to post the question, who?

I honestly say in answer to that no one really made me suspicious of dodgy things like that, I will however say that there were some very dodgy dealings going on but nothing to do with kids.

This is the problem when you fail to report something and shelve it and it comes back to bite you in the backside. You report something that is later proven to be false. Another consequence of the failure of the BBC to air Newsnight special on Jimmy Saville

I have met a few 'celebritys' in my lifetime, can't think of anyone who was 'dodgy' to be honest (apart from the slimeball mentioned above) so NO is my answer
