Well for the 3rd time in 4 years i have just splashed out my hard earned on yet another Domain Name. This time I intend to try and surpass my previous attempts and actually get passed the 'website under construction' stage. Over the years I have had a look at many wysiwyg's, read lots of Web design & CSS books, and even had a twiddle with Dreamweaver. Although I'm no technophobe I've struggled to get to grips with web building. Can anyone here point me on the right path please. :help:

A lot depends what you want to use the site for. If you can give an idea of what it is intended for, then it will be easier to help.

Do stuff in word first, then it can be saved as a web page.

        Re: website

I initially started out using Serif Page Plus as it has "Paper & Web version" - mainly because it appeared to be idiot proof & they have a decent online community. Dabbled with Publisher but eventually designed my own sites with Dreamweaver. Have to confess it is a year or three since I last did any so would be rusty now.

Website is for my business, I can get pics and text, just don't know what to use to put it all together, I know there are lots of on line site building platforms but I've yet to come across one that stands out. Ideally I'd like something professional looking.

Is it to direct people to, or is it for advertising your business -ie- does it need to show in Google searches well?

Try Serif WebPlus. Very easy to use. I've been using Serif products for nearly 10 years. Very intuitive and easy to use.

Yes its to advertise my business, I've thought about it and known for years that I should have had one up and running but never have the time to get things rolling. Google search for local business with possible expansion to nationwide. I will have a look at serif webplus.

Good! The one I was going to suggest would be totally useless if for advertising, though makes excellent sites to direct people to.

Good luck! I found the concept needed explaining to me. Once I had that, things were much easier. I guess I'm lucky in that I have the Head of IT for the Royal Mint living three houses away, and so have had many free it lessons from him.
