  • Incision of A sebaceous cyst

    Good morning folks.

My eldest has to have an incision of a A sebaceous cyst tomorrow afternoon, it's huge "yuk".
It's on his left top part of the arm, well almost on his shoulder and it's actually being done at the docs for minor ops. Obviously I know they will numb it first and get on with the job, so it's unlikely he will be able to drive for a few hours.

Has anyone every had this done?
And if so has it ever grown back? I hear this can happen, his has been there for well over a year and I nagged him silly to get it sorted, but the thing is he's no baby anymore lol, 24 this year.

Tomorrow morning my youngest has an appointment with a dematologist, for some skin issues/few little moles too.

Just watched a clip on it now, when nursing some years ago, I could stomach ops, but not nice going by the clip and with my son's cyst being even bigger again, it's massive! sure he will be sure for some hours once the life's come back into it........:tinysmile_aha_t:

LOL Hello Breakfast....nice seeing you again!
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Re: Incision of A sebaceous cyst

All done, and out of the way, now to be sent for a biopsy as standard procedure, even though they know what it is (Seb cyst) opinions from 3 different docs.

I waited in the waiting room, but apparently the doc said in all his years of him doing this job (incision of these type of cysts) 25 years plus, this one was huge, he said it's the biggest one he's ever done and the size of a mammoth :tinysmile_aha_t: lol.
Stictches to be taken out next Tues morning.

                    LOL thank you me too.

I told him if he dealt with this matter when it started then the incision may have been avoided.
It is only now I have actually managed to eat something :faint2:

Forgot to say.............I have the pleasure of changing the dressings everyday!:tinysmile_aha_t:

Am surprised though, the stitches are very neatly done and already healing well.

                            I am silently worried though.

Even though there were 3 opinions, and that it was that of the stated cyst, I do wonder why it had to be sent off to be tested (biopsy).

I understand they did tell my son it is that of standard procedure, but reading online there was no need to if the docs already know what it is, he did tell my son that it is the biggest one he have seen or taken out and that the lab will have a field day with it.

He did not tell my son he would have to see him again, nor did he mention about further appointments, but just said for him to return next Tuesday morning and ask for one of the nurses to take out the stitches.

                              Hi Di,

At last a post that doesn't make me either faint or vomit!

It will be standard procedure. The doctors have to be thorough and have to cover their backs by making sure they've ruled out everything.

Reading up about illnesses or medical issues on the internet is dangerous in my opinion. I can guarantee if I read an online medical dictionary I would be 100% sure I'd got 95% of the conditions in there, and would probably need investigation for the remaining 5%.

Please trust the doctors to do their jobs, and don't work yourself up by reading on the internet.
