    LB Meet-Spring 2012--YORK - LB's 5th Birthday!!

Hi everybody--its befallen to me to attept to organise the next meet -
    - which will be in the middle of the country-
    - at the beautiful City of York.

    Re-dates

    I have avoided,
    • Easter
    • Mothers Day
    • School Holidays
    • York Racing Days
so I propose SATURDAY MAY 5th 2012 with Friday May 4th for those arriving day before
I already have some promises (I wasn't sticking my neck out without them-lol)

There are excellent rail links from London, the West and Scotland
It is around 200 miles from M25/M1 junction and takes around 3 hrs 40 minutes on M1ion --alternative route also up the A1

I live 30 miles from York so can personally arrange hotels, entertainment etc

We have 3 scenarios as I see it
    1. Arrive Friday afternoon and stay 2 nights in York
    2. Arrive Saturday and stay 1 night in York
    3. Arrive Saturday just for the day for local people
    I would reccommend
    • on Friday night:
    • One of the Ghost walks or The Grand Old Opera House
    • On Saturday - in between socializing in the bars--a visit to the world famous Jorvick Centre and the Castle-Street Museum
    Here's some ideas:
Jorvik Viking Centre | Home page

York Castle Museum - York Castle Museum

The Ghost Hunt of York...The Entertaining Ghost Walk of York

Ghost Walks In York ~ York, The Most Haunted City In England! ~ Ghost Stories. York Ghosts

York Dungeon *Official site* | The scariest day out | Up to 35% off

York is compact with hotels such as the Hilton (I reccommend highly and I will probabably stay there if it aint booked up already-note-York is a tourist city and people book early btw)) and 2 Travel-Lodges

Everything close by like super teas shops, the Shambles,M& S,Fenwicks etc + oldie worldly streets---I will put maps up of course later

    Sooooooooo---I await your reactions folks

    Turbs

PS--OH's are of course invited--indeed--a few of us take our OH's

[QUOTE=Turboman;286927]A few sights of York that I think a few of you will recognize when I went to York a week ago during the flooding.

These first 3 show Clifford Street near Clifford's Tower

Staithes Landing where we boarded the Evening Cruise

One of the streets down to Staithes Landing where the "geese police" escorted us (love that name Monz)

Kings Arms frome Ousegate Bridge by Maxie at the Meet)

    A few memories from York

...At the start of Celestine's epic speech at the dinner in Hilton -- she got all our attentions and all the other diners-lol--by introducing the event by imitating a Beagle continous yelp---which we all duly had to copy in unison-rofl

...During her speech she paid great tribute to Amethyst & Tools for their dedication on the site throughout the first 5 years----and at one point saying Amethyst was the single most intelligent person she had ever met--to which --one of her children piped up "Mum---you're not intelligent"-lol

...Amethyst taking one of her children along the table..
    • This is Pawnbrokers-he's called Pawnbokers because of...
    • This is Turboman-he's called Turboman because of...
    • This is Springerspaniel-she's called Springerspaniel because of...
    • etc

...at the quiz in the Stonegate Yard--in an earlier post-Monz thought she'd come last--wrong Monz--"last equal with me" & in chatbox last week-one other also claimed that doubtful position-pmsl

...in the Jorvik Centre you go round a circuit in a motorised cart---me & Mr Tuttsi in the back seats---Mrs Turbo & Tuttsi in the front seats---at embarkment-we weren't concentrating and during the ride , all the scenes had characters talking in ancient Nordic--it was near the end we noticed that there were buttons to press in front of us which gave commentary in loads of languages throughout with speakers in our headrests-----lol---needless to say--Tuttsi negotiated a free second time around with the speakers on-rofl

Everybody else has said how much they enjoyed the meet--may I also say it was a great gathering and everybody was so so nice---and I was reallly really chuffed to be part of it.

    Whew.....!!! Thanks, Maxie.

I guess I'll be suing Adobe PhotoShop, then. It's clearly their fault.

I only ever dream about scenes like that.

....but that's one little dream I'll cherish !!!

Great pix, Maxie. Well done for mastering Photobucket on your own. And well done for mastering your fear of heights in the Wheel. I have a pic of you just after it started moving - with your eyes shut, and holding tightly on to the seat - clearly petrified. It was great watching you getting bolder and bolder as the wheel turned. If we ever do it again, maybe NEXT time you'll let me stand up and make the pod swing !!!

Why I got a load of duplicates Maxie, I wasn't right clicking after highligting the IMG link (4th one down)---so I was pasting link for the one "in the clipboard from previous post"---I know when you highlight the IMG link it says "copied"--but I had trouble-so now I always r/h click and select "copy"

I've got more to post yet--plus the one Max Clifford has----so I'll experiment to see why you cant delete your duplicates

I've got some in 3 Tuns but not Stonegate Yard--so we aint got the lovely CYNthesys + daughter between us--unles Tutts took any

ps--his name is Richard (from Hilton) lol
Hey Turbs, You'd be right proud of me cos my daughters were both far too busy to help me with the photo bucket and time was ticking on and I was getting impatient as I really wanted to get my pics up in here so that was all my own work.. Sussed itttttttt Matey..!!! LOL..
