A stunning day here, spoilt only by the horrendous noise from the Newport direction (oops! Sorry Di! lol)

A really good day, and when my daughter got her main present, it was the first time I've ever literally seen someone's jaw drop in disbelief - a really magical moment.

Here's hoping the rest of the festive period treats everyone here kindly, especially those who are carrying real worries and problems along with them while all around celebrate.

                    Happy Birthday Peter xx
Hope you have a lovely day
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Join the club Peter, my birthday has been set on LB to 21 by one of the administrators and it makes me feel heaps younger that way so each year it is has to be reset.

Hope you had a lovely birthday dinner and had lots of lovely pressies. x

                            Re: Merry Christmas! Xx

Belated Happy Birthday from me, too, Peter. We had Christmas dinner with our eldest daughter Heather - who produced our first grandchild in February - and our new extended family. Poor Hev was in the kitchen like a little Miss Ramsay with Tourette's, and her OH was rushing around like a headless turkey - but they got the dinner out to to the table in good time and it was excellent !!! We had a great evening with OH's parents and family, too.

Slight 'malfunction,' later on, though. They had a 2-mile wide HD plasma screen TV, and we were playing 100-pin bowling with their Wii later on. If you've ever played it, you have to effectively 'throw' the Wii remote handset at the screen, like a bowling ball - but WITHOUT letting go of it. Yep - you named that tune in one, guys. Youngest daughter Katie forgot to attach the wrist-strap, and effectively chucked a brick at the screen, cracking it dead centre - and killing it instantly. :smash: Like Labman - we witnessed a jaw-dropping moment - but of a completely different kind !!!

After a stunned silence, peeps started to appear from behind the furniture, gathering their wits, and muttering suggestions ranging from superglueing the crack to simply changing channels. I was already formulating my apologies and practising my 'RADA' tears. OH was devastated, as it was his HDTV, but he kept his cool - and his stiff upper lip, good man. Said it was insured, so it was no problem, and they still had their 'previous' 1.5 mile wide non-HD screen upstairs. So, we got that down and replaced the casualty with it. Meanwhile, Hev got the paperwork out to check the insurance documents, etc.

Yours truly - still compos mentis - put his 'forum gorilla' suit (and his glasses) on and went through the paperwork with Hev 'Ramsay,' and managed to ascertain that the insurance was still current and covered accidental damage. Whew !!! The gorilla assured the injured party that - should the insurers try to evade their responsibilities - he had a large pack beagles who would instantly transform (like Clark Kent to Superman) into rottweillers if needed. :beagle: Oh, and a slightly camp superhero mate in glittery tights, who would back me up in a dark alley, too !!!

We managed to snatch some 'kudos' from the jaws of disaster, methinks, in that OH phoned Curry's today, and got confirmation that an engineer will call tomorrow to pick up the dead HDTV, and that he will get it back fixed within a week or get a new replacement. We're hoping for a replacement, as that may well be the latest model - and thus a bonus.

It could have got nasty, though, couldn't it ? It was a moment when both families were brought together in a kind of test, when they could so easily have been thrown violently apart at this time. A special day - yet in a very peculiar and unexpected way !!!
