Re: Di's Cheerful Chatline & Join-in Chatter Thread

You're very kind guys, thank you. Alright then - in my less grumpy moments I'll try and think of summat nice to say - OK ?

I'm currently reading that 'Little Volume' which DS posted a link to in the 'converse' thread to this one. Thanks for that, DS. A bit of positive stuff I guess I would like to shove in here is a continuation of my earlier stuff (which I THINK I posted) about my eldest daughter, aged 20. She came home one day and presented me with an ultrasound scan pic of my first grandchild, and didn't know how I'd react. I hugged her and cried (a little). She picked up the keys of her first home on Monday this week, and I hugged her again, after we'd been there to measure up for carpets and curtains. Her OH will be there with her, too, and it's looking good, Houston.

I told her that Mrs-K and I will shed a tear when she finally moves out of our house and into her own. And then I said that - as soon as the front door is shut behind her - Mrs-K and I will do a 'high five,' and shout "YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!"

She knew which was truth and which was fiction. It was all truth, in fact. A mixture of loss and tears - with a positive attitude toward the future. We have to let go of the past in order to embrace the future - something I have always found difficult.

But letting go doesn't mean it is lost forever. "If you love something, let it go." It will not leave you if the love was real.

Sure enough - she knows which side her bread is buttered. Her new home is no more than a mile from us. Bless the clever little bitch. We love her.

So.....I measured up for her carpets and curtains, and then checked out the gas & leccie - the heating - the CO detector - the door locks - the squeaky floorboards (use extra screws [NOT nails] - and old talc) - the garden and gates - the water cystern - the leccie breakers in the cupboard. She had to force me out the door.

I let her go, and she knew I loved her. High five, and a "YESSSSSSS!!!!"

Then I cried with her Mum when I got back home. Soppy or what ?

                              And grumpy again.......................
