  • I must be bored!

    Hi everyone,

Gosh, I must be really bored today as I've just spent ages working out how many letters I've sent out (all via at least recorded delivery and some by special delivery) since starting my campaign to get my charges and mis-sold PPI refunded................

I've worked out that I've sent the following -

6 CCA requests plus £1.00 postal orders

8 Subject Access Requests plus £10.00 postal orders

and 259 letters to various banks and other financial institutions

That's apart from all the emails I've sent - mainly to the FOS.

I'm sure that's not a record - but in just over 18 months that seems like quite a lot and goodness knows how much it has cost in printer paper, ink, envelopes etc etc.............

Still, looking at how much I've had refunded in credit card charges and mis-sold PPI in that time it has got to have been worth it, but I haven't totted that up yet.....................

          Thanks PF

Unfortunately most of it has been utilised to compensate for a period of incredibly low household income whilst OH was self-employed last year as well as to repay the priority debts which had built up.

I had been attempting to build up a fund for making F&F settlement offers to our remaing creditors, but now due to OH's engine probs this fund is looking a bit sick.............

Still, there are a couple more biggies in the pipeline - most notably the Norton PPI - and if these materialise I should be back on track!

              Well Done Enaid,
If you had been a little more commited you could have had one for each day of the week .
How much success have you had out of these letters then just out of interest, Still pushing for my PPI at the moment.
Oh and have a thanks on me for your efforsts.

                Hi OPBC,

No 'twas me that wrote all those letters - you're getting your 'nellies' confused, I am 'nelliewops' lol!

                Thanks for the thanks!

Well I s'pose around £17k of refunds is not a bad return on my efforts............I worked out that I've spent around £300 minimum on postage costs alone, apart from the ink, stationery etc.

The letters relate to 25 different lots of charges or PPI.

Out of those 25 complaints, 15 have had successful outcomes with refunds being paid.

There are a further 4 on which I have either had offers (and am awaiting increased offers) or am just awaiting receipt of refunds.

The remainder are either with the FOS or are in the early stages still - apart from the one for bank charges which is dead in the water.

Two (Swift Advances charges and Santander charges) will most likely have to be pursued through court as they have no intention of paying out.

                Hope this helps!

That is a good insight though to how much we are being ripped off and also very shameful on there part knowing due to all the press reports and regulatory reports that they still try and in a lot of cases succeed in defending any refunds.

It is high time the government took action and stopped this happening as they know all about it but use the "sorry gov its not me"

                    Re: I must be bored!

                    Very true PF

The thing is exactly how many people are out there unaware that they could reclaim credit card charges and PPI (if it was mis-sold)?

So many people are either put off because of the hard work involved - and yes, writing all those letters has taken up a fair bit of time, lol - or else start on their reclaiming journey only to fall at the first hurdle when the bank fobs them off with a load of bull............and that's apart from those poor souls who don't have access to internet forums/advice from people in the know.

Including my bank charges - which I know I'll most likely never get now - my reclaiming amounts total a staggering £50k approx!

Even if I end up getting half of that total refunded and can utilise it to clear my/OH's debts, it will have been well worth the effort!

                      Nellie,

I,m well aware of the amount of time effort and money you have put in getting you and yours sorted.

Indeed many of your threads OTR I followed closely not only in case I could lend a hand but also your stamina gave me hope and encouraged me to keep a breast of mine as much a possible.

As you know I had a stroke and unfortunately the after affects that come with that are short term memory and hemiplegia short attention span so you see not only have you helped yourself a great deal but also kept me on the ball.

For that I thank you kindly and am glad that you also come here.

                        Re: I must be bored!

Thanks so much for your very kind words PF - you were the first person OTR who kindly came to my assistance as a newbie and I'm only too pleased that I may have been able to help you a little in return

What's more PF - considering what you've been through you are a marvel and an inspiration to us all!

And if I've helped you 'keep a breast', I'm only too happy to have done that too - as long as it was Mrs PF's breast, lol!
