  • Princess Diana- 10 years on

Well, I guess someone needs to start a thread on it so i will.
10 years ago in a french tunnel a car carrying Dodi Al Fayed, Princess Diana, Henry Paul and the Bodyguard bloke crashed. The three named people died. We then had one week of mourning till the Saturday when the funeral took place. Highlights of the funeral were Elton John and Earl Spencer's eulogy. The mountain of flowers over the coffin and car seemed to unite a country in grief.
Tomorrow, 31st August 2007 a memorial service will take place.
    RIP Dodi Al Fayed
    RIP Henry Paul
    RIP Princess Diana.

Re: Princess Diana- 10 years on

Its amazing how quickly 10 years passes.

I went to Kensington Palace 2 days before funeral with my 2 yr old daughter.
I remember the sea of flowers, the quiet, the shock and my 2 yr old wanting an explanation for these strange events. She learnt to say ' The Princess died'.

She is now nearly 13 and can't remember it at all now........weird.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

I got that dvd the other week 'The Queen' it really is a good film, given the fact that it was suppose to show her maj in a bad light and yet she comes across very well in it.

Been watching some of the programs on one of the cable channels, History or summat like that, chronicaling the last days, thats been good.

Well I remember it very well, I was in Dublin with my mum and sister celebrating our birthdays. We had a lovely weekend I must say, but this did both shock and upset us at the time.
All I can say is it's her boys are I feel for now, although they will be very pleased at the way the nation feels about their mother. Although they will never forget her, I wish that all the upsetting press coverage etc about her would stop, for their sake.

Re: Princess Diana- 10 years on

I remember coming into work at about 2am and hearing about the crash, that Diana had a broken arm and was seen walking away from the car.
I remember thinking ffs she's on the news again, bloody woman!
The following day I was shocked to hear she was dead and it took a while of watching the news and hearing the phrase "The late" for me to finally realise she was dead.
            It really saddened me.
            All those flowers were amazing.
I watched the whole of the funeral.
Loved it when everyone threw flowers at her coffin as it went by.
Although I was never a fan of Diana I fully appreciated the things she did, highlighting landmines, Aids etc. She was a remarkable woman.

I do think it was an accident - a pointless and stupid accident.

I was driving down the very same road I am working on now about 10 o'clock on the Sunday

I used to do kids clothes parties and buy the stock from warehouses in Manchester, when I first put the news on I thought it was the Queen Mum who had died, I just knew it was a member of the royal family, it was a real shock to find out it was Diana.

I have never thought the papers should have given her the coverage they did then and continue to do now, I don't think yesterday will be the end of it, nor the outcome of the inquiry, the poor girl will never rest in peace, probably until my generation is gone.

I am waiting now to see if Charles becomes King, the Church of England refused to marry me coz I was divorced and asked a friend of mine to leave a number of church groups because she was 'living in sin', (come along way since Henry VIII) if Charles becomes King, he becomes Supreme Head of the Church of England

Re: Princess Diana- 10 years on

King Charles I was charged with high treason 'against the realm of England' and beheaded in 1649. He was not deposed.

King Charles II suffered an apopleptic fit and subsequently died in 1685. He was not beheaded.

There has not been a King Charles III of England as yet. Our present Prince of Wales will become King Charles III, should he ever become King.

'The Madness' that you speak about refers to King George III. King George III was afflicted with porphyria, a disease which manifests itself in the form of adbominal pain, vomiting, seizures and mental disturbances, including hallucinations, depression, anxiety and paranoia.

Amy, killing the head of a country is not deposing him? Treason against the state and he is the head??? Replaced by Lord Protector Cromwell??
Charles II murdered by his doctors I heard from a good source(unnamed of course) Roll on Charles III

No it's not the same. They were not removed from power before they met their end, they were executed whilst still in power.

Charles II murdered by his doctors - how exactly?

Any comment as to Charles III and IV?
