        Re: Simple easy to do recipies !!!!!!

        Here is my most used recipe, simple and quick, ready in minutes

        Steps

        1. Choose the kind of bread you wish to use. You can use just a regular white bread,or a specialty bread like rye, whole wheat, brown or french.
        2. Carefully put your slices of bread into the toaster.
        3. Choose what settings to use. Use a lower setting to start out with because some toasters tend to burn the toast easily.
        4. Plug in the toaster.
        5. Insert bread into slots of the toaster. Some toasters have more than two slots for many pieces of toast.
        6. Push down the toaster plunger to turn it on.
        7. Wearing an oven mitt, carefully remove the hot toast from the toaster after it pops up.
        8. Place the toast on a plate, remove your oven mitt and spread toast with butter, peanut butter, jam or whatever you prefer on one side.
        9. Slice in half, quarters, or leave whole.
        10. Unplug the toaster.
        11. Clean up your mess and put away the things you use. Enjoy!

        Tips

        • Be careful with which setting you should use
        • If you burn the toast, you can still fix it. Take the flat side of a butter knife and scrape off the burnt crumbs; be sure to do this over a trash can, as this makes a mess. But if the whole bread is totally burnt, make another one
        • If you use butter, spread it on the bread as quickly as you can after the bread comes out of the toaster so the butter melts into the bread so it is easier to spread as the toast is still hot.

        Warnings

        • Don't stick your hand/fingers into the toaster. You will get burnt and could get electrocuted.
        • Don't get your toaster or the toasters cord anywhere near water. It could be very dangerous.
        • Don't use a knife to get the toast out if it's stuck, as it also be very dangerous.

        Things You'll Need

        • Bread
        • Toaster
        • Butter (optional)
        • Oven Mitts (optional)

            I grow most of my own veggies so I eat alot of fresh fruit and vegetables mostly potatoes, onions and garlic. So for me the cheapest meals tend to be potato based ones J Feel free to chuck some animals in to these recipes ... lol I have skipped my veggie protein side dishes as I guess most of you will have a side of animal with yoursJ
            Anyone can grow potatoes even if you don’t have a big garden, all you need is a bucket or black bin liner fill it ¾ with mud chuck in 3 or 4 potatoes that have started to sprout and water every couple of days when the flowers have died back dig up your spuds!!!!
            I have salad with most dishes as well, again this is grown in a post on the windowsill though winter and in the garden in the summer.. easy peasy chuck some mixed salad leaf seeds in some mud and water when needed normally ready to eat in a couple of weeks, just cut out the amount you want with your tea J
            Potato bake
            ½ kg potato’s thinly sliced
            2 leeks thinly sliced (or 1 onion thinly sliced)
            1 garlic clove squished
            1 packet of ready salted crisps, crushed up in to crumbs
            White sauce (you can make it, I do, or like my OH buy a jar of it)
            Veggie – ½ punnet of mushrooms sliced
            Meateaters – 4 slices of bacon chopped up into bits
            Grated cheese to taste

            Boil the potatoes for 10-15 mins .
            In an oven bowl place a layer of the potatoes on the bottom of the bowl followed by a layer of the mushrooms (or bacon). Squish the garlic over this layer and add a little bit of the white sauce.
            Repeat until you have run out of mushrooms / potatoes.
            Take the thinly sliced leeks and sprinkle over the top of the bowl cook in the oven for 15 mins on 200 degrees
            Mix the cheese with the crushed up crisps and sprinkle on top of the dish and put back in the oven for another 20 mins.
            Eat!
            Potatoe pancakes
            1 kg of potatoes
            2 big onions
            3-4 eggs
            6 or more tablespoons of flour
            1 pinch of salt

            Grate the potatoes and onions (you can use a blender if it’s easier). Mix in the eggs and salt and slowly add the flour. You might have to adjust the quantity of flour to get the right consistency - it should make a nice thick mixture that’s a bit like cake dough.
            Heat some sunflower or nut oil in a pan. Put tablespoons of the mixture into the really hot pan and flatten them into little cakes. Allow them to cook, and turn them over when the underside begins to brown.
            Apparently goes well with sausages.

            WINTER VEGETABLE FRITTATA
            2 tablespoons olive oil
            1 small onion, peeled and finely sliced
            2 garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped
            250 g (9 oz) of a selection of seasonal vegetables - potatoes, carrots, leeks, black kale, peeled and finely sliced
            6 large eggs, lightly beaten
            handful of fresh (or dried) rosemary, finely chopped
            100 g (4 oz) of goats cheese or any soft cheese, crumbled.
            sea salt and ground black pepper

            Fry the onion in 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a frying pan for until softened. Add the garlic and seasonal vegetables and cook for a further 5 minutes. Lightly beat the eggs in a bowl and spoon in the vegetable mixture. Add the rosemary and the goat’s cheese, and stir well. Season to taste. Heat the remaining oil over a medium heat in the frying pan and tip in the frittata mixture. Turn the heat down to low and cook for 7-10 minutes until the sides begin to set. Turn the frittata onto a plate, then transfer back to the frying pan the other side down and cook for a further 10 minutes or until the frittata is golden and firm and serve.

            CHEESY BUBBLE & SQUEAK CAKES
            500g mashed potato (I used left over roasties from a Sunday roast)
            200g cooked cabbage or steamed spinach, shredded (again left over from roast)
            1 egg, beaten
            150g Cheddar cheese, grated
            Salt, pepper and fresh nutmeg to taste
            Plain flour, for coating
            Oil for frying

            Combine the mash, greens, egg, and cheese. Season to taste. Shape into eight patties (burger style). Chill for an hour in the fridge if possible. Dredge the patties in the flour. Heat about 1cm(1/2”) of oil in a large frying pan, then slide the patties in and fry on each side until golden and crisp, about 3 minutes.
            OH has his with left over meat from the roast.

            My fav recipe right now is a tesco one…. It is devine!

            Ingredients
            For the garlic purèe
            * 2 whole garlic bulbs
            * 100 ml double cream

            For the onion topping
            * 1 large onion, chopped
            * 40 g butter

            For the pastry
            * ½ x 375g ready-rolled sheet puff pastry
            * Leaves from 2 thyme sprigs

            For the filling
            * 1 garlic clove
            * 50 g butter
            * 300 g wild and exotic mushrooms
            * 100 ml vegetable stock
            * 2 tbsp chopped parsley
            * Salt and freshly ground pepper
            Method

            1. For the purée, peel all the garlic cloves, cover with water and bring to the boil three times, using fresh water each time. Finally, drain and just cover with the cream. Simmer until tender, reducing the cream by half. Whizz/blend while hot, season and set aside.
            2. Over a low heat, sauté the onion in the butter for 15-20 minutes until the moisture is reduced. Preheat the oven to 190C, 375F, Gas 5.
            3. Prick the pastry thoroughly with a fork to stop it from rising too much, then smear with a light coating of garlic purée and all the onion. Sprinkle with the thyme and cook at the top of the oven for about 20 minutes until crisp.
            4. For the filling, sauté the whole garlic clove in half the butter. When the garlic has coloured, add the mushrooms, cook for 2 minutes more, then add the stock and cook on a high heat until almost dry. Remove the garlic, add the remaining butter and the parsley, season and pile onto the pastry base. Serve in slices, with a little of the garlic purée on the side.

              Boing for tuttsi x

              Made this today YUMMMMMM

              Ingredients

              • 2 large Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick
              • 1 lemon, juiced
              • 1 cup raisins
              • 1/4 cup sugar, plus 3 tablespoons
              • 2 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces, plus 2 tablespoons butter, melted
              • All-purpose flour, for dusting
              • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
              • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

              Directions

              Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F.
              In a medium bowl, toss the sliced apples with the lemon juice until the apples are thoroughly coated. Add the raisins, 1/4 cup sugar, and the 2 tablespoons cold cubed butter and toss well. Set aside.
              Lightly dust the counter or work surface with flour. Lay the puff pastry on top and dust the rolling pin with additional flour. Gently roll the puff pastry to 1/8-inch thickness.
              Spread the apple and raisin mixture over the bottom half of the puff pastry square leaving about 1-inch of space along the side edges. Fold the top half of the puff pastry over and pinch to seal the edges together.
              Brush the entire strudel with the melted butter and then sprinkle with cinnamon and remaining sugar. Using a serrated knife, make 3 diagonal slits across the top of the strudel.
              Place the strudel on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes, rotating halfway through cooking, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

                  Re: Simple easy to do recipies !!!!!!

                  Not sure if I've posted this before. It's easy to do and tastes scrummy and is very filling.

                  Cheats Canneloni.

                  First bit
                  Use mince, quorn, onions and whatever else you fancy etc and make up a basic bolognese or chilli con carne base.
                  Chuck in either a jar of pasta sauce, or a jar of chilli con carne sauce, or use the packet variety that you add water to.
                  Next bit
                  Get some tortillas and put some of the mixture in, roll up and put in an oven dish.
                  Throw over a pot of cream (supposed to be sour cream, but I have used double, single, long life, it all ends up the same) so that the tortillas are coated.
                  Grate some cheese over the top (Monterey Jack is nice if you're doing the chilli version)
                  Last bit
                  Throw it in the oven at about 180 for 30-40 mins.

                  Best bit
                  Serve one "roll" each with garlic bread.

                  This is really good if you're having mates round, you can just put the oven dish onto the table and let them help themselves to one each, dump a bowl of salad on the table if you feel the need.

                  Enjoy!
