  • A holiday reminder

I know this has been in the press - but you know what teenagers are like!

Tell them to avoid black temporary henna tatoos at all costs while abroad.(true henna tatoos are not black)

My daughter knew the dangers and still had one - the reaction can sometimes take a week to start - so just because you see others with them at a resort that look ok - they may not be.

Hers is now blistering in the exact shape of the tatoo and she is off to the doctors tomorrow.

A good way to put them off is to let them know that if they have a reaction to the chemical they may not be able to use hair dyes in the future as once the sensitivity is there it can continue. That should do the trick with girls!

Out of three of them that had it done - two have reacted.

Oh the joys of PPD, I thought it had been banned every where?

Scoobs what ever she does she must not itch it... in the next day or so it will go welty the it will start to itch like mad! If she scratches it she will have that henna pattern on her for LIFE! A girl I know has the scars all over her hands and up her arms. She had the henna done about 7/8 years ago and now she has a very clearly defined scar pattern.

Oh and Scooby get her to tell the doc someone painted black hair dye on her, most UK doctors will not know the chemicals in Black henna but will know whats wrong if you say black hair dye. xxx

I have printed off some articles about the chemicals to take in just in case.

She has a small one on her wrist which has tiny bump like blisters and now the stars (small ) on her back are sore . I have read as well that some people can not go out in the sun for some time and also the chemical is in a lot of sunscreens so she will have to watch that.

Silly girl - although she had heard of the dangers when she saw others with the tatoos and no problems she thought it was all right.

yes you were right - much worse today . steroid cream and anti histemine tablets being used . But I am keeping a close eye on her as I am not sure the fact that it gets into the bloodstream and not just the skin was explained.
