  • Ex landlord harrassing me

I have just moved house, and I owe one weeks rent to.my previous landlord. They started ringing me and texting me over this so I sought advice and sent letter stating all corospondence to my email address, they have acused me of owing more rent when my tenancy showed I didnt then they changed there mind stating I owed one one week. I told them as I was on benefit I would pay £10 a month, they were nt happy and wanted more and this is how is gone on. Tonight I went to a friends house in the same street they came over shouting at me as I was waiting. This whole thing has shook me and caused me to have panic attacks. How can I stop this. Any advice would be great

Did you pay a deposit when you moved into the property?

If so the Landlord can lawfully deduct any rent owing from that deposit instead of harassing you.

If you're currently surviving on benefits, were you entitled to Housing Benefit while living at your previous house which may have been under-calculated?

Harassment is a subjective thing, so if you feel you're being harassed then you are being harassed (which is a criminal offence). Call the police if that happens again.

Good luck in your new home. It seems you'll be better off without them as your Landlord
