An application to the land registry was not submitted by a company in respect of joint owner severance. Payment was made for this. Any advice please?

Re: Will company did not process severance application
Hi and welcome, was this to change from joint tenants to tenants in common?
This can be done free of charge by filling in a form info HERE
This does not change who owns the property, just what can be done with it if there is a split or one of the owners dies.
If you have been charged for this to be done and it hasn't then simply ask for your money back

Re: Will company did not process severance application
Thanks so much. Land Registry have confirmed joint owners. Furious. We were advised like you have said, this could have been done independently for no charge. Unfortunately this came about following the death of one of the owners. Will now be asking for money back.
Thanks again for your response.

Re: Will company did not process severance application
No we were told by the company in question that probate was needed and it turns out that was incorrect, needless to say we withdrew from any engagement with them!
Of course we will now have to see a solicitor to have this drawn up again, already having paid for this to be done. Will be chasing them for full refund of the costs associated with this.
Advised to go to Trading Standards if no joy.

Re: Will company did not process severance application
If this was a will writer then unfortunately as yet they are not regulated. There is however the Institute of Professional Will Writers I would have a look see if the firm you dealt with are registered with them, you can complain to them also if they are.

Thank you for this. I will certainly follow this up. The Land Registry also advised that Trading Standards could help.
I appreciate your advice on contacting the Institute of professional will writers.
Very helpful.
