CrS letter - ignore, they are blust and blunder for a while they try it on with anybody caught, they went to a court and lost their case in the past = unless there is a county court form issued - file away and the threatograms.

          Hi and welcome to Legalbeagles.

What a terrible time you are having at the moment.

So the incident has been dealt with by the police, When you say "recorded warning" I assume you mean a "caution". Can you confirm that nothing was said by the police about making recompense to Boots?

CRS are nothing more than a Debt Collector, and as such have no authority or power to do anything other than send you letters demanding payment of money.
          They should be ignored.
They will write to you several times.
          Ignore them
They will use legalese language and threaten all sorts of dire consequences including court action
          Ignore them
They may even get their coloured pencils out and write in BIG SCARY RED LETTERS
          Ignore them

Whilst not codoning shoplifting (but due to your current levels of stress you were acting out of character) IMO the action of people like CRS who set themselves up as some sort of vigilante beyond the normal process of law is even more despicable and should be ended.
They use threats and bullying to extract money from the vulnerable, which can never be justified.

If you receive more letters and feel the need , do not hesitate to return for support and help.
The only thing never to ignore is genuine court papers,

              Re: crs

              Did you write to them?
If so they now know you are worried.
In their eyes this makes you a target and ripe for extra pressure so you can expect lots more letters.
The shop would have paid their security staff regardless of the time they spent with you.
That is security staff job and they will be paid whether or not they actually have to deal with a shoplifter.
This means there are no quantifiable additional costs, unless certain staff have been diverted from their jobs.
Shop staff on minimum wage for even a whole hour do not cost £127.
The breakdown they gave you is pure fantasy.

From now on IGNORE their letters, or if you want reassurance post them up here for help.

                  Re: crs

We have had no reports of a court case since the trial in Oxford, where one of these companies lost badly.
That was in 2012 and here's a link to it:http://legalbeagles.info/civil-recov...s-of-hearings/

I do not know how long CRS maintain their letter writing, but RLP have sometimes been known to continue for about 9 months. Other times they only write two or three times.
Suppose it depends how they feel and if they think you are likely to give in to their demands.

Just try to stay strong, & ignore them

Hope you are managing to sort out your other problems.
You really don't need these scumbags chasing you, but practically there is nothing to be done except ignore them.
