It is an investigation meeting or a disciplinary meeting? Have they told you about any representation you can take with you?

It is an investigation meeting. They have asked me if I would like representatives with me in the meeting.

Are you in a union at work?

Then speak to your union rep cos that is what they are there for and that is what you pay your subs for

Have you received all monies owed to you? (inc holidays accrued, etc)

                  Hi Lorraine

How about explaining the facts, ie why did you resign from your job? What was the something that you did wrong which made you feel you had to resign? If you cannot get in touch with your Union's rep at work, contact your Union's main office to find this person or they can appoint someone else to attend the hearing with you. If it is a disciplinary hearing you must be made aware of all allegations of wrong-doing prior to the hearing as the disciplinary is a final hearing so you would not be able to defend your self at the hearing if the allegations were only to = come to light at the hearing. In short, you need time to go over the allegations with your Union rep/ other prior to the disciplinary hearing. Based on employment law there must at least be a reasonable investigation, ie a fair one. Check your employer's policy on misconduct or gross misconduct too, to make sure when you know of the entire allegations against you that you can compare like for like, ie company policy on grievances v your wrong-doing.
