I had a parking ticket through the post about 3months ago from Smart Parking, saying that I staying in a car park in Kingston longer then I had paid for. I know for a fact that I paid enough money and was back to my time well within the time limit, however I do not have the ticket to prove this. I have been advise that this company are illegal and can not issue tickets therefore to ignore the charge. I have since had three letters from debt collectors asking for the money. What should I do and where do I stand?

Re: Smart Parking
You should have appealed and, if required, followed up with a popla appeal. You've made it awkward now.
You can ignore but with the protection of freedoms act 2012 schedule 4 and Parking Eye v Beavis it is no longer the safe haven it used to be.
Might be best to point out to the debt collector that the debt is denied as "the driver" had paid more than adequately. Same to Smart so they can check their logs for errors.
