• MET parking

    Good morning all,

I just joined this forum and this is my first posting.

The reason for coming here is that I received a parking fine from MET, for parking where I always do at my local leisure centre, there is no signage and I received no ticket. On checking online the advice I initially sought told me to ignore as MET was seen a scamming organisation.

About another month later I received another notice and ignored that too.

I have now received a letter from DRP a debt recovery agency, stating that the sum has now increased from £100 to £150 and stated court action will be taken.

I do get the feeling this organisation are at best dodgy and the nature in which the whole thing is shady to say the least. Is there any advice that anyone can give me on how to proceed.

    Many thanks.

mystery1 will be best to advise (I've tagged him so he sees the post ) ... although, personally, I would ignore the letter from DRP and wait for court papers.

The law changed by the introduction of POFA 2012 in that the registered keeper can now be held liable for the unpaid parking charges. Ignore has not been the advice for some time. Since you have ignored then it may possibly be best bet to continue ignoring. The letters will change from DRP to Zenith but it's all the same company.

Go into the leisure centre and demand management cancel the charge.

It would be helpful to past up the charge notice with personal details and the PCN number blanked out. There may be a timing error or a failure to follow procedures that may make it impossible to claim keeper responsibility.

                Re: MET parking

Well i'd say they have failed on keeper liability and therefore can on pursue the driver who they do not know, which is a little tricky.

File everything and ignore all bar a proper letter before action (nothing from DRP, Zenith etc matters).

I don't know why these two documents didn't appear with the other one I posted but this should give you now a full picture of the story.

I also visited the Leisure Centre yesterday, the Customer Services Assistant took copies of everything and will be giving them to his manager to dee if they can cancel the fine, he said I'll be informed tomorrow of the decision.

Thank you for all your advice so far.

The manager is your best bet to cancel, let's hope so.
