Hi. I've just joined and wanted to share my experience of Marstons with you. My partner paid the fine in full in November 2014 and he has proof, although I had no idea where he put it when a representative from this Company appeared on my doorstep last week. My partner was at work, about 100 miles away. No prior notification had been given of this visit. I opened my porch door. This guy just kept repeating that I had to get my partner on the telephone. He kept his foot in the door and wouldn't move it. I left him there and locked my inner door, and the other doors in the house. He reversed into my driveway. He then proceeded to rattle the front door forcefully, then went to my 6ft gate and violently rattled this as well, causing damage to the bolts (pictures taken). He kept putting his face up against my front window, and then he was on his mobile outside my home shouting for all and sundry to hear. I contacted the police, they don't get involved in this type of matter, regardless of whether you're being threatened, harrassed, and frightened. I finally got hold of the magistrates court who said that according to their records, the fine had been paid in full last November. I was given another telephone number to get clarification. It was confirmed and when I asked why did this man turn up on my doorstep, I was advised that the case had not been returned, which basically means there was an error on their part in not advising that payment had been received. I have put in a formal complaint, first to Marstons and will await their response. But I have to ask how can a situation like this occur, and secondly, although I realise that bailiffs have certain powers, surely this man's behaviour goes against their code of conduct?
