  • False Social Fund repayment demand.

Are the DWP asking you for repayment of a Social Fund loan you never had?...then without providing any evidence telling you they'll take it from your benefits?
How many people is this happening to?

Hi Tools, by post in a DWP envelope.
I'm not doubting it is the DWP. I fear the Torries are dredging for funds.

Thanks, that's what I was trying to establish as there are a few scams doing the rounds at the minute.

I would suggest either writing to them or telephoning, make them aware that as far as you know you have never had a Social Fund Loan and ask them to send you the details on which they rely.

Thanks, but I've done that. Requested evidence, received none. Told by letter today to expect to have my benefit docked.
This is either ancient, befuddled or a ruse.
I suspect the last one. If I'm right others may find this post.

Refer it to your local MP to intervene, if they are any good they should help, many do.

Full evidence finally recieved from DWP, Milton Keynes. WV99 1RA.
The crisis loan I had was from 2008. £19.44.
The covering letter from a Data Protection Officer called S. Owen, notes that the loan has been repaid...back in 2008, I can only assume, as S. Owen fails to say when.
How do I take the Tories to court for theft?
This was no error, I believe, this was greedy, slightly desperate people, deliberately, sneakily, pinching pennies they hoped would not be missed.
Just to be clear, I believe the Tories to be crooks.

Which Tories are you taking to Court?

Think its a formal complaint and hopefully an apology

Some considerable time ago the DWP was charge with collecting many million of pound of unpaid loans and overpayments The Welfare reform Act(s) gave it the teeth to do so, it is inevitable that some errors occur.
This is Tax Payers money and it should be recovered the only people stealing are those who have walked away from their responsibilities.
