We would like you to send our e-mail to any television programmes that you think would be interested in our case. As I mentioned we are all disabled and we need a car to get around as we live in a village and the bus service is non-existent.

You haven't actually mentioned anything before as this is your first post!
You could either post up more details or pm admin with your story.

Re: Car Warranty Problems
Sorry Miss FM jessie contacted us by email and I asked her to post up a thread, here is the background.
We brought a Mitsubushi Pajero from Compact Cars in April 2014. All cars from this firm come with a 3 month warranty regardless of the price of the car. The car was sold to them with an existing fuel pump fault which we were not told about but they knew about the problem. We rung up Compact Cars about 2 weeks after we had the car and informed them that the fuel pump needed replacing. Compact Cars informed my brother-in-law that it wasn't their responsibility because the car did not come with a warranty but all their cars come with warranties. We need the car because we are all disabled. They informed us that the car was not sold with a warranty. We paid £1,700 for the car. We have had a quote from a Mitsubushi dealership that it would cost in excess of £2,500 to change the fuel pump. We feel that Compact Cars should cover this cost as it is under warranty still as it is not 3 months since we brought the car. We sold our 2 Nissan Notes so that we could buy a bigger car as we have 2 mobility scooters and 2 dogs.Any opinions I give are my own. Any advice I give is without liability. If you are unsure, please seek qualified legal advice.

Re: Car Warranty Problems
Hi Jessie
I have forwarded on your story to BBC's Rip Off Britain with your contact details, if they are able to use your story they will contact you.
In the meantime, whether the car came with a warranty or not it should be covered by the Sale of Goods Act and had an fault at the time of sale, I also speak with Trading Standards often and would also recommend you contact your local Trading Standards officeAny opinions I give are my own. Any advice I give is without liability. If you are unsure, please seek qualified legal advice.

Re: Car Warranty Problems
BEFORE READING MY POST I have now confirmed the Compact Cars mentioned here is in NOT the one I was fearing as I have spoken to its owner. The garage referred to in the post above is in England, though there are identically named garages in other countries of the UK. I think perhaps this should have been made clear by the OP to avoid any negative influence to car sales businesses of the same name.
Can I ask where Compact Cars is please? The country and compass direction (N,S,E or W) would suffice. I do have a reason to ask.
As a member of the Mitsubishi Pajero Owners Club (ex-owner in my case of 5 of them!) the imports -ie- Pajeros, not Shoguns, are prone to problems with the fuel pumps. It is nearly always NOT the entire pump which needs replacing, but just the seals which perish. Once done they should be good for ages.
There are quite a few mechanics who do only this work now and charge nothing like £2500. The best known garage in the UK for doing these comes highly recommended and replaces them at a cost of around £200- £250. I suspect the garage owner may be more amenable to a bill of that size.
Please post up the details as I may be able to help you. I would be VERY uncomfortable with this garage appearing on Rip Off Britain if it is the one I think it is. The owner is straight as a die, so there must be something more to this than immediately meets the eye.Last edited by Wombats; 30th May 2014, 23:04:PM.
