Re: Support Leveson - sign this

but they were not non democratic communist and facist states before the autocracy took over

they were taken over little by little, bit by bit

ignorance and apathy turned to prejudice and hate

germany during the thirties was more popular than paris for culture before the nazis closed down the indapendant newspapers

the point being is we do not let any form of legislating take root in a free press, that is no more than censorship

just be grateful we are able to have this debate and are not censored, this goverment has allready started censorship on the super highway by allowing eavesdropping on telephone and internet, and record them for up to 5 years.

control the media, control the people

slippery slope we are starting to go down by sleep walking again

Re: Support Leveson - sign this

How is the press in Ireland, Canada, Australia, France, Germany etc regulated?
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Agreed Militant. Seems if you disagree, your referred to as out of the loop, someone dreaming up reasons against it, or Paranoid!

Am against legislation full stop of the press in any form, i don't care how other countries regulate their press, as thats their business. So no matter what spin you put on it or what sob stories you come up with that were a result of journalist acting in breach of current privacy or libel laws. My opinion will not change!

If this legislation only did what you say it did, then why is their any need for it when the publishers have all agreed to sign up to an independant regulator without the need for said legislation! Therefore making said legislation irrelevant and unnecessary!

Ireland has precisely the same regulatory model - underpinned by statute - that Leveson proposes. Most of the same newspaper publishers there are the same titles that publish here. By all accounts the system is an unmitigated success.

Ireland is a flourishing democracy and not an autocracy, nazi or communist state.

So you act like a child, just because someone disagrees with your oipinion. Yeah how intelligent you are! or should i say arrogant, as that is what you are starting to act like in this thread! Insulting people just because they do not agree with you! Then you wonder why people argue back. This was a debate that has now turn sour, because one can not accept opinions of others.

I accept your opinion and repsect it just like militant does, but one most wonder what the point is in respecting your opinion when you clearly can not accept that others have a different one, and start making personal innuendos. Seriously Exc, i thought better of you than that!

And as i said before, i don't care what other countries do to regulate their press. I don't live their and its their own business. I don't agree with it, so i won't support any attempt to legislate it here in the UK. As for Ireland Flourishing. Well Debt Bail Out suggest otherwise. Not to mention their laws on abortions that cost the life of a mother to be, when they refused to terminate despite her request they did - Hardly a flourishing democarcy when a person begging for her life whilst miscarriaging is refused termination of her preganancy despite the fact Test revealed she would loose her baby anyway, instead being told "This is a catholic Country" sorry but when did religion take precedent over right to live! Yes i know its hardly an arguement to debate a countrys democracy. But it does beg to question whether its a floushing one as you described!

                    I've already answered this twice.

                        Blimey

The Hacked Off petition has attracted 130,000 signatures in 4 days and by my calculation is set to beat the largest current No 10 petition (174.000 in 9 months) before it's a week old.

On what errorneous facts? I made it clear from the start i was against legislation full stop, no fact is going to change that whether true or false! I do not believe in legislation of the press end off. My believe is not an errornous fact!

@Inca, I am sorry to hear what happened to your father, but there were avenues available, Libel Laws! He could have sued and such case would have been published in the press along with an apology! How would this new legislation have prevented them going after your father in the first place, it only deals with what happens to the press/jornalists when they do under an independant regulator - Which they have all agreed to be regulated by, without the need of legislation forcing them to be regulated by it!
