Council has made my road a thoroughfare

As part of Low traffic Neighborhood scheme (LTN) that were implemented without any consultation and forced upon residents under the guise of a response to Covid, they’ve turned my street which was once a quiet residential road to a main road/thoroughfare. They’ve closed off one road that had lots of traffic and now have funnelled it down my road making it dangerous, constant traffic, noise and fumes. This will lower the value of my home and affect us all from health to stress. Is there anything I can do with legal proceedings against the council?

Emergency legislation came into force on 23 May 2020 to amend, temporarily, the:

• The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992
• The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996
• The Secretary of State’s Traffic Order (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1990

The amendments speed up making emergency Traffic Orders that may be needed to, for example, widen pavements or install cycle lanes. The main change is to the means of advertising the order, which can be via digital means. A second order still needs to be published for information 14 days later in a newspaper, where these are available, or via digital media.
