Perhaps someone needs to remind ‘Hang ‘em High’ Gove that we used to have an excellent system in this country; it was called LEGAL AID. Oh sure, we all know there are some, especially corporate lawyers, who settle many deals and arguments over a gin and tonic at the 19th hole or lunch at the Ritz but those who actually have what he terms a ‘Vocation’ are already working around the clock without benefit of researchers or paralegals to see the more vulnerable get some level of justice. A quick browse at some posts will tell you that there are shark lawyers about but people like PT are ready and willing to read an email or post and give advice without hope of ever receiving any fiscal reward. I have never known any of Mr Gove’s cronies to do anything that will not win them publicity or a vote. The charity work they do is always ‘high profile’ and if you do not vote ‘tory’, well, they would not pee on you if you were on fire. They cut Legal Aid down to a level that would embarrass Attila the Hun and assume a law graduate saddled with thousands of pounds of debt (thanks to cuts in education grants) will feel he should spend a chunk of his day helping the people His government dropped between the cracks in the pavement.

An optimist is someone who falls off the Empire State Building, and after 50 floors says, 'So far so good'!
