It is I think the " couldn't care less" attitude amongst certain groups of the population that still bury their heads in the sand over debts, ignoring letters not only from creditors, when there is still an option to resolve a problem and later ignoring DCA's and finally disregarding court documents.
This coupled with the attitude that it only happens to others not me is also very obvious the those of us who have to try and clear up the sorry mess of the aftermath.

biggest problem is most of us do not know how to defend an action because everything becomes Legalwords that we do not understand.
Until everyone finds sites like this at the first instance and gets advice the will bury their heads in the sand.

DCAs and their tame Solicitors do not want Mr or Mrs average to know what to do.

I wonder if this increase in activity was due to a rush by DCA’s to get their claims in on the ‘off-chance’ the CPRC had actually grown a pair and would approve the proposed changes to Debt Pre Action Protocols. They need not have rushed. The eunuchs are still twiddling their thumbs as they obviously have nothing to scratch and the changes will not be going through in April as we first thought (See thread Changes to Debt Pre Action Protocols - Your views) These changes would have given the defendants a chance to understand the claim, be supplied with the relevant information and therefore have the opportunity to prepare a proper defence.
Another reason why a lot of people have ignored the ‘red letters’ is due to the amount of bad advice and misinformation. One does not have to trawl the internet for long before they will find an ‘expert’ who will tell them to ignore the letters as the claimant doesn’t have a leg to stand on for one reason or another. Unfortunately they neglect to inform the defendant they still have to defend the claim.
