  • Facebook purges ‘Likes’, with pages’ fan counts expected to plunge

Facebook is to vastly reduce the likes that each page has, removing deactivated accounts and those owned by people who have died. It’s unclear exactly how many accounts will be caught up in the removal, which will begin in the coming weeks. In the clean-up, Facebook will remove pages that have been deactivated from the […]

Would be interesting to know how would FB find out who has died, my dead uncle's page has been in place for years after his death, his two children have obviously never done anything to remove it, how would FB remove it unless someone notifies them? I'd have thought it would be down to his daughters to do so.

FB has also started offering Memorialization of the page when someone dies ... are they going to remove all of the 'likes' from these ones too??

        Thanks, Kati. :yo:

I'm not going to submit the request - I reckon it would be up to his children and he's got two who are still alive.

The one thing that worries me is that proof of death is optional and there seem to be very few questions asked, unless there are more asked later after you submit. :noidea: I mean what if someone decided to play a prank on someone who is still alive?
