Re: BBC News – City Link announces 2,356 job losses after rescue talks fail

Being told you will lose your job at any time is horrendous; being told at Christmas is diabolical however……..City Link failed because their shocking level of service has led to a catastrophic loss of contracts and individual complaints. Re-deliveries, penalty payments and compensating customers was a further drain on their capital. At one time they held some of the most lucrative contracts in the country but the behaviour of their delivery personnel was a major factor in losing these contracts. Large distributers discovered that city link were damaging their reputation and losing them business because their customers were not receiving deliveries or were having to spend hours arguing with their incompetent customer service department.
When will companies realise that the people who actually deal with the public hold the reputation of that company in the palm of their hand! It is not rocket science.

An optimist is someone who falls off the Empire State Building, and after 50 floors says, 'So far so good'!
