    That's because they have to hear all sorts of cases such as personal injury, housing issues, consumer disputes, debt and some employment matters such as unpaid wages. They can't be experts in every area of law.
    Quite FP and that's the very reason why ordinary (& some not so ordinary) people need the help of a trained competent professional such as a lawyer for example
