Increasing the numbers of businesses confident about their chances of getting bank lending would boost UK growth, new research from BDRC Continental shows. Hundreds of thousands of businesses could expand, order more equipment or boost their spending power if they were more aware of their good prospects of getting bank finance.

I must admit to being very nervous about interest rates at the moment.

I began to feel uneasy when the new chap said that if unemployment comes down to 7% they wold consider increasing them.
Probably being over cynical but it occurred to me that these figures are the easiest of all the indicators to massage, many are saying that the current figure of 7.1 doe not take into account the short term or part time workers.
I just get the feeling that certain people are working behind the scenes to create a situation where they can raise interest rates without it causing to much of a stir.

Very worrying for a lot of home owners IMO
