Re: "comic relief invests in arms trade"
It's not just the (appalling) choice of investment - when I give to charity I want my "widows mite" to go immediately -NOW to the cause headlined - not to pay for yet more overpaid executives and certainly not to be tied up in "investments", particularly not dubious ones.
All the "I want to be more famous" "Celebrity Aid" charities are a trade off - "celebrities" get a career revival and the populus give immediately to provide immediate help, over-and-above the capabilities of existing agencies, in urgent relief to those they wish to help. Not extra money for investments (and fatter salaries) - particularly not for boosting the Arms Trade or British Gas.
I need to go and have a glass of water now..

And just think how lucky you are to be able to get a glass of water when you want it.Originally posted by MissFM View PostI need to go and have a glass of water now..
Some poor children in Africa have neither a decent water supply nor clean glasses from which to drink.

Had a little bet with myself that that was coming...and it's true!Originally posted by CleverClogs View PostAnd just think how lucky you are to be able to get a glass of water when you want it.

Also true that, at the same sorry time, the African warlords and dictators are not short of weapons and golden palaces grace a Western "Aid" intended to remedy that very situation:lever:

Quite, Wales. As with the "Public Sector" and the Banks - Charities now operate a model whereby the less use someone is the more they get paid. Money donated to a cause is withheld to go multiply itself according to a "business" model that doesn't even deliver for businesses, only those that cream it off.Originally posted by wales01man View PostLet the Millionaire celebrities pay some of their millions as for the clean water if all the money raised was paid out not invested so some fund managers can make money they would have the water trouble is everyeone wants a slice of the charity pie take a look at the salaries of some of the CEOs?
