THe current story at the moment is about the fact that the OFT in its story about Credit Card charges set a limit and made a comment with regards to bank accounts. Laurence Rabinowitz(QC for RBS Group) seized on the remark to imply that the OFT had started the flood of claims to banks.
I should publicly tell Mr Rabinowitz that RBS Group who he is defending as early as February 2006 had already given guidance to branch staff how to deal with letters from campaign groups with an example letter which quoted, Dunlop Tyres case and Leisurepay case law. The seeds of the campaign are rooted to earlier that the OFT report and Rabinowitz argument is not really compelling for me.
