Re: Anti-Fracking Protesters Cleared By Police

This evening I watched the BBC 6 o'clock news and saw police removing protestors.

I watched a police officer come behind a protestor and seize him around the neck in an extremely dangerous fashion. I also noticed him simultaneously pinching the protestors earlobe very hard - this is a special technique.

Inappropriate use of force. They have learnt nothing from the Tomlinson case.

I am delighted that they have been cleared, but of what offence were they suspected?

Being in a loud shirt during daylight hours or looking at the police in a funny way?

Just as well, then, that they'd left their TV remote controls at home, or someone might have been shot (link)

They were served a section 14 notice which is why they had to move by not moving the police had the power to move them, the MP who was arrested I part of the legal system of this country she unlike the rest of us has a vote on the laws of the land when they are debated in parliament if she doesent want to abide by the law she should resign her seat

                        No 'back-lash' from me, Inca!

It's just the latest bandwagon for some people - If I were a 'genuine' protester, I would be distancing myself from the element who just want to cause trouble in order to enhance their own notoriety.

Maybe the press can find some of the protesters from past protests and find out what they are now doing, was the MP a protester before getting to parliament on 67k plus expenses

                            There'd be no MP's left!

Historically much good has come of people making a stance and protesting - women gaining the vote is one such example, with Emily Pankhurst, a major political activist. Personally, I see nothing wrong with MP's standing up for their beliefs if they disagree with something. Where would one draw the line with them not abiding by the law? Would they resign for a speeding offence? What about misleading people intentionally? What if they're protesting to get 'serial protesters' who go to cause trouble punished? What if they're protesting about benefit theft?

I agree with you in principle, but don't think it is a workable idea in reality.

Judging by the state of them all that was needed would be to chuck a few bars of carbolic and some hot water in the middle, it would work quicker than tear gas. Oh and a years worth of flea treatments too.
