  • Bob Crow to unions: form new labour party

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2...w-labour-party
The leader of the RMT, Bob Crow, is to call on trade unions to break ties with Labour and create a new party that "speaks for working people".
Crow accused Ed Miliband of showing unions contempt and "dancing to the tune of Tony Blair" following the Labour leader's plans to end the automatic affiliation of union members to the party.
Although the transport union was expelled from the party in 2004 for allowing Scottish branches to affiliate to other political parties, Crow claimed Miliband's reforms were an attempt to "hack away at the last remaining shreds of influence held by those who created the party"................

We would be better dispensing with political parties and the whip system altogether. It's easier for vested interests to corrupt and manipulate policy when they are making donations to political parties. It is far more difficult to corrupt a parliament and manipulate policy when you have a parliament made up of 650 individuals with no party ties and no whip system to bully MPs into voting as the party paymasters dictate.

The sooner we abolish political parties and the whip system, the better. Let MPs vote in accordance with their constituents' wishes, not those of vested interests.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

Or all vote for Colin the Duck!!

Seriously though, Bob Crowe needs a reality check, as an ex BR member I remember the to$$er turning up and demanding to see our union papers, he then went garrety that I wasn't with the RMT as I was "Selling out my workmates".. I was with ASLEF as I thought the RMT were too militant!

He went on about needing more money to help "Striking Brothers" to which I (remember I was the only woman on the station) looked at him and said "What about the sisters?"

He made a few speeches, got heckled and told us we were all cretins - this we knew! The Rep came round the next day complaining that we had "Upset Mr Crowe" and I gave one of these :noidea: and said "Why is he upset? He's MINTED!!"

You know that part of your brain that says "Don't say that".... yeh I was born without it!!

They want rigid, top-down political parties because they are easy to control. The prospect of people abandoning the traditional system terrifies the establishment.
