    Right now a great many people are paying a great deal more for their banking that is apparently "free."

    This is more petty posturing from the banks - even if they do introduce fees for bank accounts, it won't be long before one of them breaks ranks and launches free banking again and they will all be forced follow suit or lose out.

      Ahh but your charges aren't transparent, they are printed, agreed, but not transparent. You/the Banks clearly make profits from breaches of contract (by imposing penalties) and in the law of this country you should not profit from this and you are. Get over it and stop trying to change the arguement to the only one you could possibly get away with profiting on (the service arguement). It is blatant veiling of penalties in order to profit from account breaches.

      Its not about imposing charging structures, its about stopping the banks fleecing consumers, which is what the UTCCR were put in place for. If you have a problem with it then make the charges proportionate to your losses.
