  • EU migrants claim £1.4 million per month worth of benefits for children living abroad

The Sun reports that about 18,000 workers from other EU countries claim child benefits for their children who live abroad - in total some £1.4million a month. An official from the HM Revenues and Customs is quoted as saying: "Under EU rules, an EU national working and paying compulsory contributions in one EU country can claim child benefits for their family resident in another."

Actually no, but I was emailed the link.

What I find interesting is the shift at News International and the fact that the Sun and the News of the World - to the extent they take direction from Murdoch - feel that Cameron is now worth a look, whereas before he was not and this kind of story is clearly demonstrating that.
