Wasps owner Steve Hayes a suspect in Metropolitan Police computer-hacking investigation
Wasps’ future was thrown into jeopardy on Thursday night after it was revealed that owner Steve Hayes had been arrested and released on bail in February following investigations into illegal computer-hacking.

The news could not come at a worse time for the Aviva Premiership club, who were optimistic of attracting new owners or investors in the wake last weekend’s victory over Gloucester that markedly improved their chances of league survival.
Hayes put the club, who he has owned since 2008 in conjunction with Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, on the market in October.
His arrest was part of Operation Tuleta, a strand of London police’s investigation into illegal information-gathering which has so far only involved newspapers.
“We can confirm that he was arrested on suspicion of computer hacking and that he is now on bail,” said a Wasps spokeswoman.
Hayes was seized in a dawn raid at his farm in Hertfordshire. Another man was held in Surrey at the same time.
A Scotland Yard statement said: “On Feb 24, 2012, officers from Operation Tuleta arrested a man at his home in Hertfordshire, and a man at an address in Surrey, on suspicion of offences under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) 2000.
“These arrests are not directly linked to any news organisation or the activities of journalists. They were taken to London police stations and later bailed to return in June and July 2012 pending further inquiries.”
Hayes, who made millions from an internet loans business, took over at Wasps in the year that former England captain Lawrence Dallaglio led the team to victory in the Premiership final at Twickenham.
In recent years, a succession of retirements involving the likes of Dallaglio, Josh Lewsey, Phil Vickery and Tom Rees have caused the club to slip steadily in the rankings.
Wasps lie 11th and have been battling against relegation for most of the season
Steve Hayes originally owned loans.co.uk and then sold it on to MBNA He is now is owner of High Wycombe Wanders Football Club.
I also saw another article where he was fined for mis-selling PPI.
I knew when I saw his name on the news this evening that I had come across him before.
