  • RBS bankers arrested in tax probe

Bankers from the Royal Bank of Scotland have been arrested as part of an ongoing probe into an alleged tax fraud.
The arrests included four current employees and one former employee from the Edinburgh-based bank.
They were arrested at their homes across London and the Home Counties on Wednesday, as HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
The HMRC said the allegations related to the financial affairs of the individuals, rather than the activity of the bank.
An HMRC spokeswoman said: "As a result of an ongoing HMRC investigation into tax-related criminal offences, HMRC has arrested a number of people, some of whom work for UK banks.
"This investigation relates to the actions of the people arrested in relation to their own financial affairs and is not connected to the business activities of the banks.

Those 4 current bankers will end up suspended pending the outcome of HMRC investigations as that should be the process involved.

RBS staff held in tax fraud investigation - Telegraph

The arrests will prove highly embarrassing for RBS as it prepares to hand out the slug of bonuses, and comes just a fortnight after Stephen Hester, chief executive, was forced to give up his own £963,000 bonus after the payment of the all-share award triggered a Parliamentary debate.
      I should say so...!

            Perhaps.

I'd like to suspend the whole lot of them by their dangley bits, using piano wire nooses.

It should ignite a bonfire of their executives.

Not a time to be polite, sparkie!

THEY are all laughing...the other black knights.
The following should be their fate:

The office of knighthood was treated with so much regard, taking on aspects of holy devotion, to be forsworn and stripped of knighthood was a purposefully traumatic experience. The king could make the determination to remove knighthood from a man, as could certain courts. In nearly all instances, the degraded man’s spurs were ‘hacked from his heels’, his sword broken (sometimes over his head), his cote of arms burned, and his shield hung upside down in a church or other public place. Often this disgrace was matched with a death sentence, for such knights were often charged with and found guilty of treason. Treason, cowardice, and being forsworn were reasons often cited for the degradation.
                      ROBBING BASKET SWINDLERS!

How many of those RBS knighthoods were for services to banking?

Mckillop's was not, Sutherland's was not and I don't think Robertson's was either but you can correct me on the last one.

Goodwin's WAS for banking and directly RBS.

Mathesson(spelt incorrectly) was for banking in 1999 I believe but he was not on the board at the time of Goodwin's deal. Again correct me if I am wrong.

Goodwin was the sacrificial lamb and now his trophy of a knighthood is gone then realistically you want other knighthood's which were given unrelated to banking taken away? Now whilst Goodwin's one is realistic you are suggesting that the others work outside of RBS is tainted forever because they were part of the RBS board when they collapsed. That is real stoooooopid imho. However that's just my fickled opinion and I know nowt

Ah, Monsieur Leclerc, we have met before!

One can take the man out of the RBS, but one cannot take RBS out of the man!
It's called being financial industry brain washed...

The other black knights were asleep whilst Fred drove the Royal Bank off the proverbial cliffs!

And they really do look like a bunch of trustworthy RBS men, especially Mckillop, who has the look of a wild west bandit...

                              No it's not.

Leclerc selflessly risked (and lost) his job passing on confidential and compromising RBS information to the BBC for the cause.

To describe him as being ''financial industry brain washed'' is manifestly inaccurate.
